"Music has the power to open hearts and minds and connect people in a radical way. I play vinyl sets because I believe that what makes music, and particularly dance music, so powerful is, for lack of a better term, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. When I'm in the flea market near my home in Tampa, digging through crates of 12"s, it's amazing to see the patterns emerge as culture moved up from Miami, collaborated with Jacksonville and Atlanta, and cross-pollinated with the people moving down from New York.
Tracing movements of art and life and culture, and anytime I go to a new city, I can get a taste of their local ecosystem of art and culture as well. It's the difference between making music for a market and making music for a community.”
